‘Sensible’ Singh wishes to resolve key issues: Gilani

The premier says the two countries cannot afford another war.

Asserting that Pakistan and India cannot afford another war, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said that Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a “sensible and sane” person who really wants the two countries to resolve their issues.

Speaking highly of the Indian premier’s intentions to share good relations with Pakistan, Gilani said that Singh expressed several times during their recent meeting that he wanted to do “something really positive” for both countries.

Gilani was speaking to senior civil servants participating in the 94th National Management Course.

Singh had shown a commitment to improving relations between the neighbours and said the Kashmir issue can be resolved diplomatically, he said.

The PM added that the Indian prime minister also expressed his views to fight common enemies of poverty, hunger and unemployment in the two countries.

The two prime ministers met during the ICC World
Cup semi-final between Pakistan and India on March 30 and Singh had said India and Pakistan should put ‘ancient animosities’ behind them.

At the National Management Course, Gilani said that he had officially met his Indian counterpart four times – in Colombo in 2008, Sharm El Sheikh in 2009, Bhutan in 2010 and at Mohali in India last month. The premier also added that they met unofficially on several occasions.

Gilani said that as implementers of government policies and as contributors to policy making, the role of senior civil servants was pivotal to the success of the transitional phase of polity and administration. APP (WITH ADDITIONAL INPUT BY NEWS DESK)

Bikku | 13 years ago | Reply @Ahmad Khan: Indira wasn't any god, she was solider of our motherland as is the 1.2 billion citizens who call this nation their mother even greater than the god they worship. When the next Indira is born may be some one will also be born to make her silent, but before that the final nail in India's enemy's coffin would have been nailed. Those who call someone god, who dictates that he is the only god and no civilization is worth to exist if it does not subjugate to his will and belief whose followers aided by the state believe in massacre of nonbelievers are not only the enemy of India, but also to the mankind. Those state and its followers are worth to be crushed under the boots rather allowing that evil to manifest and threaten the peaceful existence of mankind.

Indian USA | 13 years ago | Reply @ajay@bikku Atleast,we should admit that democratic government of Pakistan and main opposition party in Pakistan want peace with India. Our opposition party(BJP) opposes everything related with Pakistan for the sake of opposition. BJP started peace process when they were in government.Now they are in opposition so they are not giving breathing space to Manmohan Singh. Only way forward is to strengthen the democratic government in Pakistan and pray that some sense prevails in BJP.

We Like it. @Bikku Two things established from your statement .1) Indian State is a Tool of Terrorism in South East Asia. 2) India adopt intervention in Neighbor states as its State Policy I think You clearly saw what What happened to Terrorist Indira? She was sent to hell by her Sikhs Bodyguards. If you are wise enough then there is a Lesson hidden in it. And that lesson is when your atrocities are endless and your tyranny prevails on the people regardless where they reside, then End of such Powerful person or Entity usually come from the hand of the weakest. In Indira's case her Body guards were almost simple troops unknown to the world. You can apply the same formula on nations. Examples are endless. Soviets' defeat by the hands of poor and uneducated Afghans, or US defeat by poor Vietnamese, or British defeat by Pathans. All are examples of tyrants to send back to hell. Give birth another Indira and somewhere there would be born one who would send her back fromw here she came from.

For example they have different show and tell experience in public dealings with Americans as compared to private dealings. Even during floods, Pakistani premier thought he should be seen caring about flood victims even if his men put up a fake camp because he couldn't be bothered visiting a real camp in far off location.
