LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is history now and negotiation is possible among political parties.

“Kulsoom Nawaz is a strong candidate for NA-120 by-polls as she has always helped Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in trying times like in 1999,” Kaira told a press conference on Tuesday.

“The only complaint against Kulsoom is that she left for Saroor Palace with Mian Sahib when he made a deal with a military dictator,” he said, adding that those who brought Sharif into politics were also unhappy with him.

He said the disqualified prime minister had initiated an agitation campaign to weaken the democratic system in the country.

About Sharif claiming to have fulfilled all promises, Kaira jeered, “How many megawatts of electricity have been produced or how many jobs have been created during the PML-N regime? Did they [PML-N] eradicate terrorism from the country?”

He blamed the PML-N for all the ills in the country as it was in the government for 30 years.

Agitation aplenty: PPP planning movement against govt

He alleged that as the Chinese companies had started investigations into commissions and kickbacks in Multan Metro bus project and other development projects, people were questioning about the fate of Ashyana Housing Scheme and Danish Schools.

“Now the ruling party cannot deceive the masses by making false promises,” he maintained.

PPP stood by the army even when Bhutto was hanged: Kaira

Earlier, he said, the PPP leadership was focused on re-organising the party and its chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had kicked off public contact campaign. The campaign had been initiated with public gatherings in Faisalabad and Chiniot, he said, adding that the people who believed that the PPP had been eliminated from Punjab should start getting answers to their questions by now.

Answering a question, Kaira said there was hardly any chance of Sharif-Zardari meeting as the PPP had lost faith in Sharif and had no plans to cooperate with the ruling party.
