Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor's teaser will take your breath away
The teaser of the upcoming animated Pakistani film hits Pixar-level quality
Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor is the title of an upcoming Pakistani animated film and the teaser has taken our breath away.
Seconds into the teaser, an eagle flapping its wide wings swooping high and low takes us through a a narrow gorge to a mountain top, where we see, presumably, the hero of our story, Allahyaar.
The quality of animation and sound hits close to Pixar and Disney standards. Cartooned images of breathtaking views from somewhere that looks like the north of Pakistan, against the back-drop of a soft yet upbeat track makes the appeals to all our senses and we can't wait for the entire theatrical experience.
While this is far from the first animated film in Pakistan, it surely seems to promise a new bench mark for films in this genre in terms of quality and aesthetics. Whether the plot and the characters are just as gripping as the visuals of the teaser is something only time will tell.
With an evolving film Industry in Pakistan, film-makers seem to be experimenting with all sorts of genres, animation included. Fine quality animation anchoraged in indigenised story-line and localised characters is definitely a seller and with the timely release of the teaser - few hours before the Day of Independence, we couldn't feel more proud!
