LAHORE:
Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, vowing to defend the country despite all odds, has said “terrorists would run out their bullets before we run out of soldiers”.

“We have made a few mistakes in the past, but we are on the road to development under the guidance of our Constitution,” the army chief said at the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Wagah border late on Sunday night.

The flag – the highest in South Asia and 8th highest in the world – was hoisted at the Wagah Border to mark the 70th Independence Day of the country.

“The day is not far when we will make Pakistan the country that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal had envisioned.”

Gen Bajwa stated that Pakistan had taken forward the fight against terrorism.

“We have rendered untold sacrifices in the fight against terrorism,” Gen Qamar said, adding, “Pakistan Army will take this fight to its logical end.”

“Our enemy – be it in the East or the West – will have to face the army before they can consider harming the country,” the army chief reiterated in an ominous reference to the neighbouring countries.

The army chief said a country that was founded on ideological grounds could not be defeated.

“Despite limited resources, we have proved our mettle, and are now on the road to development,” he added.
