The longlist of 13 novels was unveiled at the Oxford Bookstore in New Delhi and it represents a diverse mix of seasoned writers and debutantes.

The list includes seven Indian writers, three Pakistani writers, two Srilankan and one American writer.
Sarvat Hasin, a London born Karachi raised author also made it to the list with her novel, This Wide Night. Pakistan's Shahbano Bilgrami with Those Children has also been shortlisted for the prize.
Art and literature - two sides of the same coin
This year the DSC Prize received more than 60 eligible entries and the five member international jury panel went through these entries to arrive at this year's longlist of 13 novels which they feel represent the best works of fiction related to the South Asian region, shares DSC.
The longlist announcement event was attended by publishers, authors and literary enthusiasts who welcomed the selection of the longlist.
