Judicial officials told The Express Tribune that the top provincial judge had sought such details after taking 'serious' notice of a news item in the media on various issues pertaining to the condition of the schools' premises, non-availability of school buildings, shortage of teachers and the numbers of students.

Therefore, the high court's registrar had called for such a report from the education secretary within one week.
The registrar directed the secretary to obtain reports from education officials in this regard and submit a detailed report as to the present condition of schools, necessary steps or measures being taken and funds allocated or spent on repair and maintenance of the schools mentioned in the news item.
The secretary will submit the report to CJ Sheikh for his perusal.
