Unable to accompany her father to Lahore during his ‘homegoing’ rally, Maryam took to Twitter, praying for her father’s safety and security.
“Abu [Nawaz Sharif] seeing us off as we leave for Lahore…. Entrusted my beloved to Allah… May Allah protection him from all evils,” Maryam tweeted on Tuesday as the former premier defied potential security threats and decided to use GT Road instead of M-2 Motorway to reach Lahore.

This is the first time Sharif, disqualified on July 28 by the SC for concealing assets, is leading a rally of this magnitude. Thousands of loyalists are expected to join the PML-N leader.
Respecting her father’s decision of not taking her along, Maryam said she wanted to join him but he refused. “His [Nawaz’s] word is the last for me.”

Sharif will embark on the Lahore journey in a bulletproof vehicle and is also scheduled to address his supporters in different cities en route. According to sources at the interior ministry, however, the ousted premier will only be allowed to leave his vehicle after security clearance.
Besides snipers on rooftops along the rally’s route, Section 144 will also be imposed to avoid any untoward incident.
Further, in an advisory, the owners of restaurants and hotels on the rally’s route have been asked to keep their businesses closed.
