LAHORE: A petition was filed in the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry seeking constitution of a parliamentary committee to probe the allegations levelled by Ayesha Ahad against PML-N MNA Hamza.

Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, the petitioner, contended that the formation of a parliamentary committee is required as Ayesha Ahad had claimed that an attempt was made to kill her and that she had been tortured in police station. He added that Ayesha also claimed that she had evidence against Hamza Shehbaz which requires an investigation.

The petitioner has also contended that Hamza is no longer Sadiq and Ameen as he hid his marriage with Ayesha. He has also requested the court to include former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his wife Kulsoom Nawaz, and Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif in the probe to verify the allegations.

Naqvi prayed to the court to direct the Prime Minster and National Assembly Speaker to constitute a parliamentary committee and suspend the membership of Hamza Shehbaz till the submission of the final report.

This is not the first legal notice to be sent over Ayehsa Ahad’s case against a PML-N leader. Ayesha Ahad on Monday served a legal notice, through her counsel Advocate Ali Zia Bajwa, to Rana Sanaullah demanding that he take back his statement and that he issue an unconditional apology for his derogatory remarks against her.

The legal notice quoted Sanaullah’s statement in which he alleged that Ayesha Ahad was making false claims about her marriage with Hamza for financial benefits, it said.

In the notice, Ayesha also said that she suffered a lot due to the minister’s remarks and demanded that Sanaullah pay Rs200 million as defamation charges.

Ayesha Ahad’s case came to the forefront after she addressed a news conference with PTI women leaders and criticised the government for not making a committee to probe her claims. She had alleged that Hamza married her in 2010, but later refused to accept her as his wife.
