Dolphin Force: 154 commandos to patrol Pindi streets

Heavy bikes sent from Lahore reach Rawalpindi for the deployment of force in August

RAWALPINDI: In a bid to curb street crimes in the city, 154 commandos of the Dolphin Force will be deployed in Rawalpindi in the third week of August, officials said.

A total of 340 commandos have recently completed training and a passing out parade for them is also scheduled to take place on the Independence Day, police officials told Daily Express.

The force of cops on motorbikes will have modern weaponry, wireless sets and camera-enabled phones, whereas a wireless system has also been embedded on their helmets, they said. Each squad of the force will comprise two motorbikes and four commandos.

Heavy bikes for the force have already reached Rawalpindi, officials said.

These newly inducted personnel will be deployed at major commercial hubs and old bazaars of the city. Also, they will be able to swiftly verify vehicle registration documents by dropping a message to the department concerned, the officials said.

The Dolphin Force will be headed an SP assisted by four DSPs. A separate office at Morgah has already been established for them.

The Dolphin Force is a venture of the Punjab government in collaboration with the Turkish National Police for the establishment of a modern, well-equipped patrolling force to curb street crime.
