‘Faith healer’ allegedly kidnaps follower’s daughter from his house

The father said that his wife went to make tea, but when she came back neither her daughter nor the 'pir' were there

FAISALABAD: A supposed ‘faith healer’ allegedly kidnapped the young daughter of one of his followers from his house in Ghaziabad, Toba Tek Singh on the pretext of giving her ‘spiritual treatment’ earlier this week.

Police registered an FIR under Section 365-A of the Pakistan Penal Code on Friday on the complaint of Muhammad Younis, the girl’s father.

Younis told police that Pir Maqbool Ahmad, a resident of Chak No. 335-GB, came to his house regularly because he was one of Ahmad’s devotees.

The father added that on August 1, Ahmad visited his house on a motorcycle at around 10:30am in his absence when only his daughter and wife were at home.



“My wife went in the kitchen to make tea, but when she came back neither my daughter nor Pir Ahmad was present there,” said Younis.

He added that he searched for Ahmad and his missing daughter everywhere from Ahmad’s house to the places where he used to meet his followers, but he couldn’t find him anywhere.

Toba Tek Singh City police station Sub-inspector Shoukhat Ali Javed told The Express Tribune on Saturday that they had gone to Ahmad’s house but it was locked and that he hasn’t been to the spots where he used to meet his followers for the past five days.

Javed further said that police’s initial investigation has revealed that Ahmad has been married twice.

The policeman added that they were making all possible efforts to arrest the accused and recover the girl.
