ABBOTTABAD: Senior police officials, provincial ministers, policemen and locals gathered in Abbottabad on Friday to pay tribute to fallen cops in a Martyrs’ Day event.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Qalandar Khan Lodhi, while addressing the event at the Jalal Baba Auditorium, said that the province’s police had written history through their bravery and remain the front line in the fight against terrorism.

“It is their [K-P cops] sacrifices which have returned peace to the province and the country,” Lodhi said.

He added that the provincial government was trying to bring the ‘Shuhada Package’ (compensatory package for slain officials) of K-P police at par with those offered in the Punjab and other provinces. He further said that the provincial government would never abandon the families of martyred K-P policemen – the real heroes of the country.
