ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (Parc) will organise a field day for date farmers of Sindh to introduce latest techniques of farming and help reduce post-harvest losses. The field day will be organised in village Bagh Bie of Pannu Aqil tehsil, Sukkur district, an official of Parc said on Friday. A highlight of the event is the introduction of solar date dryers which will enhance production, the official added. “Other areas covered in the event include effective post-harvest management and value addition of fruits in production catchments of the country,” he said. Parc has developed a solar-cum-gas-fired date dryer for dehydration of the fruit. The system can reduce post-harvest losses and improve the quality of dates as five solar drying systems have been installed in Khairpur and Sukkur regions of Sindh.
