Construction firm working at Parliament Lodges blacklisted

ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary panel has decided to blacklist a contractor for the slow pace of construction work in the Parliamentary Lodges.

The National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library and the National Assembly Secretariat has stopped the Habib Rafiq from undertaking any construction or building project in the NA Secretariat.

The announcement came after a joint inquiry committee found that the contractor was responsible for delays in construction of family suites and servant quarters at the Parliament Lodges, causing heavy loss to the National Exchequer.

In a letter written to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday, the NA Secretariat stated that the inquiry committee found that the contractor exploited tax payers’ money as it caused an unwarranted delay in the construction of 104 family suites and 500 servant quarters at the Lodges.

The letter further expressed its apprehension over the poor workmanship of the company and warned that they could cause a similar loss in other projects across the country.
