Musharraf says plans to return intact despite military leadership’s refusal to provide security.

Former president Pervez Musharraf says his plans to return to the country were intact despite the military leadership’s refusal to provide him security or help him evade arrest.

Talking to The Express Tribune by phone from Dubai, Musharraf said: “I have never made any such request. My comeback plans are very much intact. I don’t need any extra measures for my protection and the government, not the army, is responsible for that.”

In Islamabad, a spokesperson for the former president also called this newspaper to contradict a news report, saying it was untrue.

“Musharraf … will return when he has to…we will decided what time suits him to be in Pakistan again,” said Fawad Chaudhry, who is associated with the former president’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML).

On Sunday, it was reported that Musharraf had requested the military leadership to use its influence to prevent an imminent arrest upon his arrival in Pakistan.

So be proud of what u r contributing towards pakistan in any form , may it be comment. Dears just analyse, where was pakistan when he took over. Was it the same 3 years back Is there any scandle against Musharraf? Take stock of his tenure in totality. May Allah be with U all.

Baqer Khan | 13 years ago | Reply @Qamaruddin Shaikh Sorry brother if you are offended by my comments.We are viewing the matters from different angles.But if i ask you to have a visit to these trible areas and look at the mess done there with naked eyes,then may be your convinced.But if you think that we can progress by crushing these innocent tribesmen for a few militants armed by RAW, CIA or whosoever, then you should think again,.And by the way let me tell you that these tribesmen never went for rebellion so far, what made (a few of) them follow this track is the malodorous policies adopted by Musharraf.If you kill my brothers sisters,my children,my father and all my relatives then i will retaliate in the strongest way.This is the mindset of these tribesmen and they are retaliating now.Please look at these issues from a broad point of view.

So stay in that hell, if you dont want to change yourself, then dont expect the world to teach you how to swim in the water. Stop complaining what Musharraf has done to Taliban, go and live in their caves and Pray Allah that he will make you the strongest nation in your world.

Qamaruddin Shaikh | 13 years ago | Reply One thing is common among the critics of Musharraf; they are all in the STATE of DENIAL. This nation will never learn to stand on its own feet. They would cut all hands who want to help them grow. Musharraf should never come back to Pakistan.They would hang him just like they hanged Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. If this nation had any sanity prevailing , then they would have let him live and let him work, we would have been another Korea by now. But Pakistan is full of low minded people, who still believe in Zaat, paat and provinces. We are not even a loose federation, we are actually living together for the sake of it. Let the 18th amendment break Pakistan into several States, and then Musharraf can return to the STATE of Karachi, or STATE of Baltistan and build a nation that can become the most powerful in the region.

Baqer Khan | 13 years ago | Reply Yes he is very brave soldier that he surrendered everything on a single phone call by an American.He is very honest and adventurous as he has killed thousands of innocent Pakistanis brutally..I was worried that if he had remained in power for a few more years,he would have declared himself to be worshiped.He used Pak Army to be maintained on his position.

But now I dont know how he will face the present political scene of Pakistan.He must have figured out by now. I am all for continuation of political system with civilians controlling the game, but they should also try to improve governence,no one is stopping them for this.If they strive to provide security to the nation, everything will improve.

How can you forget how our country's economy improved tremendously, how many jobs were created (Consider the development of telecom, media and banking industry). When I graduated, thankfully at the time Musharraf was incharge, we had so many job opportunities. I have seen the best ever emergency service being establishes (1122), the construction of roads and underpasses, the revamping of the traffic police in Punjab, which is so better than the previous one. Karachi also developed alot with their Nazim being incharge. Look at everyone talking about saving HEC. When did it come into being? Stop blindly following what the spicy news channels have to tell you. Use your own brains and eyes, and see for yourself who's better. The reinstated judge? the destructive "democracy"? or the so called "Dictator"?

If he comes back he will be scapegoated, tried and put behind bars. For the purpose PML N is just sharpening its teeth and its party workers of some status are going on diet. During his term in office, he benifitted MQM more than any one. Today what ever development under Karachi Nazim Mustafa Kamal is claimed is Kamal of Musharraf. If MQM was so good they could have continued the same pace when Musharraf left and the self projected MQM city Nazim was still there. Musharraf also supported PML Q and Punjab. However he could not make his place due to his ethnicity. Had Musharraf shown some good will to Sindhis, Balochs and Pashtuns when he was in Power, his fate would not have been sealed like it is today.

He has been announcing his return regularly for the past year at regular intervals. Instead of words we now want action. Let us hope he hurries back soon. The suspense is killing me...

He changed the fate of country to positive edge and build instituition like higher education commission, Transfer of power at grass root level and media freedom and much more.Thier are some minor faults in every person but as a whole he is great leader. What he did in his era was never done in the histotry of Pakistan. I solute to his efforts as he is loyal, faithful and feel the pain of nation because he belong to Great Nation that he built in his era. Now the people are eating dead bodies they have nothing to eat and many more other disoders that existing government is giving as a gift to Nation after their selection based on fake degrees.
