RAWALPINDI: A five-day door-to-door polio campaign across Rawalpindi district is set to commence from August 7.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Talat Mehmood Gondal said that 1,950 polio teams will be formed and administer polio drops to 811,708 children aged up to five years.

Polio teams will include 396 area in-charges and 204 medical officers, while allied hospitals and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals would also participate in the campaign.

All possible steps have been taken to make the campaign successful, he said, adding that 269 fix centers would also be established to make sure no child is left unattended.

The DC urged citizens, particularly parents, to come forward and play their role in eliminating this crippling disease from the society. “The parents should cooperate with special teams so that the set target could be achieved,” he added.
