As many as 12 PML-N MNAs could not attend the National Assembly to take part in the vote for Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister.

One TV channel while quoting sources has said that despite being in the federal capital, Hamza Shehbaz failed to show up. Besides, Rajab Ali Baloch, Sahibzada Nazir Sultan, Tariq Qaiser, Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, Mir Dostan Khan Domki, Asim Nazir, Saqlain Bokhari, Asma Mamdot, Ammara Khan, Ufat Liaquat were also absent from the session.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan was also conspicuous by his absence. In addition, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Aysha Gulalai and Dawar Khan Kundi were other members of the PTI who did not turn up in the assembly.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Hamza’s absence remained a hotly-debated issue in the galleries and set rumour mills churning.
