Atlas Honda’s profit rises 29%

Honda operates through two joint ventures in Pakistan’s automobile industry

KARACHI: Atlas Honda Limited, the largest motorcycle manufacturer in Pakistan, posted a net profit of Rs1.1 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2017, up 29% compared with Rs850 million in the corresponding period of previous year, according to a company notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

Earnings per share increased to Rs10.64 in April-June 2017 from Rs8.22 in the same quarter of previous year.

Atlas Honda’s stock jumped 1% to Rs590 at the PSX on Monday while the benchmark KSE 100-share Index closed up 98 points or 0.21% at 46,010.

Atlas Honda - a joint venture between the Atlas Group, a local financial and industrial conglomerate, and Honda Motor of Japan - is by far the biggest motorcycle producer in the country.

Honda operates through two joint ventures in Pakistan’s automobile industry, both with the Atlas Group. It owns a 51% stake in Honda Atlas Cars (a sedan assembler) and a 35% stake in Atlas Honda (the motorcycle producer).
