Dr Aleem’s ‘killer’ commits suicide in Faisalabad jail
Mian Irfan was shifted to prison hospital after chest pain complain

The key suspect in Dr Mahmood Aleem’s killing case committed suicide under mysterious circumstances at District Jail, Faisalabad on Monday.
Civil Lines Police Station Sub Inspector Malik Ameer Muhammad told The Express Tribune that jail authorities informed the police that accused Mian Muhammad Irfan had committed suicide in the early hours of Monday. “The accused hanged himself with a bed sheet inside the prison hospital where he was admitted after suffering pain in his chest,” the police official added.

He maintained the police team reached district jail and collected evidence from the spot. Later, the body was shifted to the mortuary of the Allied Hospital for postmortem.
Malik Ameer pointed out that further investigation will be conducted after receiving the postmortem report and identifying the cause of the death. “It appears to be a case of suicide. The information given by Deputy Superintendent of Jail Rana Irfan Subhan regarding the incident has been recorded, while a formal case would be registered on receipt of the postmortem report,” he remarked.
Earlier on July 25, 2017, Dr Mahmood Aleem was gunned down when unidentified armed outlaws intercepted his vehicle near Allied More while he was on way home along with his brother after attending the clinic. The miscreants opened indiscriminate fire on them and as a result, Dr Mahmood Aleem was killed on the spot while his brother Babar Zafar suffered injuries.
Agha Ziauddin's killer shot dead
The police registered a case under sections 302, 109, 149 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code against three nominated persons – Mian Muhammad Irfan, Zain Irfan and Ali Irfan and two unknown persons for hatching conspiracy of killing Dr Mahmmodd Aleem.
Later, the police managed to arrest the key suspect in the case Mian Muhammad Irfan and his companion Amanullah and recovered the murder weapon. During interrogation, Mian Irfan confessed to killing Dr Aleem. The accused revealed that he carried out the murder in a bid to take revenge as Dr Aleem’s son had divorced his daughter.
