KMC city council mourns slain UC chairman

City council members ask government to ensure safety of elected local bodies representatives

KARACHI: The city council of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in its meeting on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the killing of District Municipal Corporation Korangi's union council (UC) 13 Vice-Chairman Muhammad Rashid and demanded that the government arrest his killers as soon as possible.

The resolution was presented by the leader of the house, Aslam Shah Afridi, along with Aman Khan Afridi and Muhammad Junaid Mukati, while it was supported by Syed Akbar Hashmi, Alam Zaib Alai and the opposition leader in the council, Karamullah Waqasi. The resolution asked the Sindh government to arrest the killers of the slain elected representative. It also prayed for the deceased and offered condolence to his family members.

The city council members also asked the government to ensure safety of the elected local bodies representatives. Later, Karachi Deputy Mayor Dr Arshad Abdullah Vohra, who was presiding over the council, adjourned the session till August 1.
