Khadija stabbing case: Prime suspect sentenced to 7 years

Law student had been stabbed 23 times by her stalker

LAHORE: Judicial magistrate Mubashir Awan awarded a seven-year jail term to Shah Hussain after finding him guilty of stabbing law student Khadija Siddique 23 times.

The convict, who is son of lawyer Tanver Hashmi, was arrested immediately after the announcement of the verdict and shifted to jail.

Khadija, 24, a law student and class fellow of the convict, had filed a petition before the court that Shah stabbed her 23 times.



On May 3, 2016, she went to Davis Road to pick up her sister from school. When the two were about to get into the car, the convict attacked her. The victim said her younger sister was also injured. As the attacker tried to flee, she grabbed him and in his helmet fell off. This helped her establish that Shah Hussain was indeed the assailant.

She said the accused also used to harass her before the incident took place. Khadija’s sister also recorded her statement and recognised Shah Hussain as the assailant in the courtroom.

Earlier, on May 23, the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah had taken notice of the delay in the trial of the Khadija stabbing case.
