They were met with an eerily silent government which is aligned to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Islamabad.
The PTI workers gathered in front of Central Press Club and shouted slogans in favour of PTI chief Imran Khan and the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC).
Addressing the jubilant crowd, PTI Parliamentary Leader in AJK legislative assembly Abdul Majid Khan said that the disqualification of the premier showed that no one was above the law.
“Imran’s war against corruption has started to show results and in this connection, Nawaz’s disqualification was the beginning of our struggle,” Majid said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senior Leader and Member of the Kashmir Council Younas Mir told The Express Tribune that the apex court’s decision would set an example and cleanse the system.
“Our party faces the disqualification of two prime ministers, so why is the PML-N leadership crying over the decision,” Mir added.
Meanwhile, workers of PML-N gathered in front of Central Press Club and staged a protest against Nawaz’s disqualification. However, there were no reports of any protest by the PML-N across AJK where the party won a two-thirds majority in the legislative assembly just a year ago.
