NAB introduces complaint registration system

System generates unique identification number, allows complainants to track complaint

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to reach out to complainants, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has undertaken an initiative to make the bureau more citizen friendly.

The Citizen Friendly NAB would help reach out to complainants and cater to their complaints in a more effective manner utilizing the existing Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) to generate a complaint registration acknowledgement system.

During a meeting to review the MES at the NAB’s headquarters, the bureau’s chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry was told that the system would share information with complainants apart from assigning a Unique Identification Number (UIN) to their complaints.

Advisor to the NAB chairman on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) said that the automated complaint registration acknowledgement initiative will facilitate the complainant in complaint registration and to track the latest progress of their complaint.

In his presentation, he explained that the Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) was developed to cater to the needs of all concerned departments of the anti-corruption body. He said that the system has a number of salient features for maintaining data at each stage of investigation from complaint entry, complaint verification, inquiry, investigation and prosecution. Moreover, it records proceedings of the Regional Board Meetings and Executive Board Meetings including case briefs and decisions made.

The system, he explained, also has the ability to analyse data in qualitative and quantitative terms with warnings and alarms system for violators. Chaudhry said the main purpose of the Citizen Friendly NAB initiative was not only to help complainants to track the status of their complaints but also enable NAB to be more transparent and responsive in their interaction with complainants.

“This [system] will further help in improving the confidence level [of people] on NAB and also ensure transparent, fair and merit based working of NAB,” the NAB chief added.

Appreciating the MES team for their contribution in introducing a state-of-the-art system, Chaudhry said that the MES is an important management tool to track progress and facilitates decision making as well as establishing links between the past, present and future actions.
