A concerning petrol strike

Letter July 27, 2017
Amidst the disagreement between the Oil Tankers Contractors Association and Ogra, consumers were suffering immensely

LAHORE: Amidst the disagreement between the Oil Tankers Contractors Association and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), consumers were suffering immensely. Many motorists, including myself, had to face difficulties in not only going to office but in also attending to work at home. Opting for public transport also becomes a hassle as most vehicles on the roads run on petrol except from a few buses and auto rickshaws which run on CNG.

From commodities to goods, such as food items all are also transported through trucks or other vehicles that run on petrol and because of the strike, everything is affected.

Although I stand with Ogra’s stance of enforcing security regulations on transporters because we cannot afford another Bahawalpur inferno costing around 200 lives, I would want the authorities concerned to clearly state what the average man should do to cope with his or her daily routine in future strikes. They should not be keeping the general populace hanging and instead provide for alternative options.
