KARACHI: A nephew of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) founder Altaf Hussain was reportedly arrested in Karachi by law enforcement agencies.

The MQM-L has claimed that 52-year-old Abdul Aziz Ansari alias Chand Bhai was arrested on Tuesday while Hussain's cousin, Khalid Hussain, who was earlier arrested during a raid in Karachi on July 19 remained missing.

In a statement issued by the MQM-London coordination committee, the committee condemned the arrest of Ansari, saying that he is an employee of the District Municipal Corporation, East.

"As soon as he sat in his car after leaving his office on Tuesday, plainclothes personnel took him away with them in a SUV," according to the statement. "The plainclothes personnel of spy agency also covered their faces with masks."

It further read that Ansari has no link with the politics but has been arrested twice. He used to live in Azizabad where he was previously arrested during a paramilitary raid at Nine Zero on March 11, 2015.

The statement further said that the whereabouts of Khalid Hussain, who was picked up from North Nazimabad, remained untraceable. The coordination committee demanded the immediate release of the Altaf Hussain's relatives. Meanwhile, no law enforcement agency has disclosed their arrests.
