Monsoon preparations: LDA to spend Rs151m on storm drains

Governing Body approves Cantt Drain bridge reconstruction.

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Saturday approved a Rs151.226 million project for the construction of storm water drains and provision of gully gratings at 21 locations ahead of the rainy season.

These projects include the construction of a storm water drain at Park Lane, Gulberg, from Firdous Market to 7Up Chowk; rehabilitation and construction of roadside drains around Hussain Chowk, MM Alam Road, Gulberg; construction of a storm water drain at Garhi Shahu Chowk, Allama Iqbal Road; construction of a storm water drain at Lawrence Road that runs off into the Birdwood Road drain; construction of a storm water drain near Race Course Chowk on Jail Road; construction of a storm water drain in front of Tollinton Market, Shadman, that runs off into the LOS Drain on Ferozepur Road; construction of a storm water drain in front of Moon Market, Faisal Town, from Central Flats to Maulana Shoukat Ali Road; construction of a storm water drain from Race Course Road to Governor’s House on The Mall that runs off into the drain crossing Governor’s House and Bagh-e-Jinnah near Kashmir Road; and construction of a storm water drain on Queen’s Road in front of Civil Lines Police Station, from the Lawrence Road intersection to the Red Crescent Building. The Water and Sanitation Agency will set up gully grating chambers in parts of Gulberg Town, Samanabad Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Shalimar Town and Ravi Town.

The LDA also decided at its Governing Body meeting on Saturday to engage evaluators approved by the State Bank to assess the base price of plots to be auctioned; approved reconstruction of a bridge at the Cantt drain, Gulshan-i-Ravi; and allotted a plot for the construction of a Punjab Seed Corporation office.

The Governing Body meeting was chaired by DCO Ahad Khan Cheema and LDA Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen was in attendance.
