A court in Hyderabad has issued a two-day stay order on the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Sindh chapter elections.
On Saturday, civil court No. 6 issued the stay order on the plea of PMA Sindh general-secretary Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi, who submitted that these elections had no legality and were against the PMA’s constitution. He asked the court to stop the elections from taking place.
The elections were announced by the PMA’s central council and were scheduled to take place in Bhit Shah, Matiari district, on April 10.
Meanwhile, a PMA group, led by Dr Jatoi, has called a provincial council meeting on April 10 in Hyderabad. The meeting will decide the date of PMA Sindh’s elections. “The elections will be held following the provision of PMA’s constitution,” Dr Jatoi said during an earlier press conference.
