Tarek Naggar, 44, who was to be wed on Saturday and shot during a robbery attempt, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Talisay District Hospital. Naggar was supposed to get married to his fiance Angie, who belongs to the Philippines, in Cebu city.
Naggar, his fiance, and his friend Chris McLaughlin were sitting outside a bar in the early hours of Thursday morning when a motorbike with three men clinging on stopped alongside them. Two of them men demanded for Naggar's wallet who, according to McLaughlin, denied. One of the two men then pulled out a pistol and shot him in the chest, taking his wallet and its contents with him.

After the ambulance of the hospital failed to turn up, Naggar was then bundled on to a rickshaw and pulled to the hospital.
McLaughlin told Herald Scotland that the hospital was rudimentary. The bullet had already entered Naggar's chest and ricocheted around his ribs and lodged in his left lung.
The nursing staff did not give any aid to Naggar until the surgeon arrived much later. The hospital was not fully equipped, and lacked blood for transfusions as well. The injured was still operated on, and is now surviving on life-support in the ICU.

The British Embassy in Manila was contacted on Friday with a plea for help, but has not given the matter much attention.
Naggar was supposed to be celebrating his marriage with his guests who had travelled from places just for the occasion. Instead, he was transferred to the South General Hospital on life support.
Cebu city, with a population of 2 million, is famous for its violent crimes, and President Duterte has used the Philippines’ track record for violence, including shootings and robberies, to justify his bloody crackdown against drug dealers and users.
Naggar's family and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his medical costs and awareness of the violence of Cebu.
