England women crowned champions of the world

Beat India by nine runs in the final at London

England on Sunday beat India by nine runs to win the Women's World Cup at London.



India were set a score of 229 runs by Heather Knight's England but they lost their last wicket in the 49th over, just nine runs short of the target.



For India, Punam Raut was the top-scorer with 86 off 115 balls.

Anya Shrubsole was the chief destructor for England as she bagged six wickets in 9.4 overs for 46 runs.



Earlier, England were helped by Natalie Sciver (51 off 68) and Sarah Taylor (45 off 62) as they scored 288-7 in their 50 overs.



Jhulan Goswami bagged three wickets for India in her 10 overs, giving away only 23 runs with three maidens to her name.
