LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Khalil Tahir Sandhu has taken notice of a complaint related to the illegal occupation of properties of minorities in the province.

Those involved in such offences have been summoned to the Minority Advisory Council meeting next week, the minister said in a statement on Saturday.

He said that under the express provisions of Protection of Communal Properties of Minorities Ordinance 2002, the sale, purchase and transfer of church property was prohibited.

There is seven years imprisonment in case of violation of the ordinance, he added. Those accused of such cases are likely to appear before the council during its meeting next week.
