The ongoing Afghan war

Wanting to dominate Afghanistan, US willingly sent around 3,000 troops to the country to fight against terrorism

SHIKARPUR: Afghanistan has been in a state of war for a very long time and precious lives have been lost every day. Its economic stability has also been highly affected with the unemployment rate currently standing at 50 per cent.

On the one hand, the Taliban and al Qaeda have threatened prosperity of the country, while, on the other, the Islamic State too seeks to find a stronghold in the region.

In the wake of this, the question that arises is that even after a long period of turmoil, why hasn’t the Taliban made peace with the Afghan government? The major reason behind this is the US involvement in the region. The US wants to dominate Afghanistan and has willingly sent around 3,000 troops to the country to fight against terrorism. This acts as an obstacle for the Taliban to come to the negotiating table.
