Constable Haq Nawaz's funeral prayers were offered at Police Lines Swabi

SWABI: A police constable was martyred by unidentified gunmen when he was heading to perform his duty in Tordher in Swabi district on Thursday.

Constable Haq Nawaz died on the spot. He was posted in the DFC office (which carries letters/summons of courts in the district) of the police department and stationed in Tordher area of Chota Lahor tehsil of Swabi district for the last many months, according to a press statement issued by the office of the district police.



“The constable was on duty when he was fatally shot by unknown gunmen from the opposite side of the road on which the deceased was travelling and left him dead on the spot,” the statement said.

Soon after the incident, the police cordoned off the area and a search operation was launched to nab the attackers. However, no arrests were confirmed by the DPO office till the filing of this report.

His funeral prayers were offered at Police Lines Swabi in which DIG, local MNA and district Nazim Ameer Rehman also participated.

Later, he was laid to rest in his native village Adina.
