Karachi transporters call strike on Monday

The Provincial Transport Minister warned that strict action will be taken against transporters if they go on strike.

KARACHI: Transporters of Karachi have announced to go on strike from Monday onwards in light of the Sindh government which has not issued a notification to increase fares.

It had been decided to increase the fares by two rupees in a meeting between the Transport Minister Akhtar Jadoon and transporters on Thursday but the Sindh government has not taken any action.

The transporters initially were rooting for a five rupee increase but they have now settled for a two rupee increment.

The Provincial Transport Minister also sent a summary to the Chief Minister for further approval but nothing has been implemented.

Jadoon has opposed the strike and warned that strict action will be taken against the transporters if they go on to protest.
