KARACHI:
Police arrested a man in military uniform posing as an army major and allegedly defrauding citizens in Karachi’s South district on Wednesday.

The 'impostor', identified as Zulfiqar, son of Ghazanfar, was taken into custody by the Preedy police while still in uniform and claiming to be an army major.

The police said Zulfiqar posed as an army man to defraud people.

They added that he lived in Defence. He runs a real estate business in Defence and Clifton.

An FIR number 316/17 has been registered against him on behalf of the State, while his army uniform, army cap and a fake identity card have also been confiscated.


Further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, six suspects were arrested during an overnight police operation in Orangi Town. According to Orangi Division SP Abid Ali Baloch, the suspects were involved in various criminal cases.

Motorcycles and weapons were also recovered from the suspects and cases were registered against them.

Separately, two street criminals were arrested during a raid by Gulberg police. The suspects were identified as Muhammad Usman and Muhammad Yaseen.

Police officials said that two pistols were also seized from their possession, adding that the suspects are habitual offenders and have also been arrested previously. A stolen motorcycle was also seized from them.
