Targeted attack?: Railway cop killed in Chaklala

RAWALPINDI: Unidentified armed men killed a constable of the Railway police late on Saturday night outside his house in Chaklala.

Officials said that 55-year-old Muhammad Siddiqui, a constable in the Railway police, was deputed to the Rawalpindi Railway Station. After completing his shift, he returned to his home in the Railway Colony in Chaklala.

As he entered the small garden outside his quarter at around midnight, some unidentified armed men on a motorbike pulled up and shot him.

Siddiqui was shot nine times and died on the spot.

When contacted, Civil Lines Deputy Superintendent of Police Farhan Aslam said that the constable’s family had filed a case against unidentified assailants.

He added that according to the family, they did not have any enmity with anyone and had no clue who had killed Siddiqui.

The constable hailed from Narowal and is survived by four children, including two sons and two daughters.

The DSP added that they were treating the case as one of murder and had started investigations in the case.

He said that the police would obtain data from the deceased’s cell phone to determine who he was in contact with, apart from questioning his colleagues, friends, and others who were close to him to determine the motive behind the murder and get possible clues to the murderers.
