“Those calling for the prime minister’s resignation are only interested in destabilising the country, especially at a time when the country is economically doing well,” the politico-religious leader told reporters in Karachi, according to Radio Pakistan.

“Pakistan and China have transformed their 70-year-long friendship into a strong economic partnership,” the Maulana said.
“But some people are conspiring against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor by calling for the premier’s resignation,” he added. He didn’t name anyone but he was understood to be referring to PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The cleric said the Panama Papers investigation had nothing to do with the eradication of corruption but was aimed at pushing the country towards instability.
He recounted the incumbent government's achievements on the economic front.
