In light of a the Ahmedpur-Sharqia incident which claimed the lives of over 200 people, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) carried out mock exercises and drills in the entire zone as a proactive measure to tackle any untoward situation. NH&MP North Zone DIG Abbas Ahsan said that the drills were necessary after the tragic incident in Bahawalpur last month to avert a disaster in the future. He added that they had arranged 55 road safety workshops to train drivers of oil tankers in the entire zone. Training workshops for Motorway police officials have also been scheduled along with safety departments of oil companies.
