HARIPUR: After a case of Chikungunya virus was confirmed in a Haripur village, a team of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa health department rushed to the area and conducted an emergency fumigation where the case was detected.

After learning of the case, health officials rushed to the spot on Friday and inspected the village. Malaria Control Programme director general and a local health team of Haripur district headed by Dr Imran visited Pind Maneem.

The DG asked locals about the working of Malaria staff and whether their houses had been fumigated.

The health department team also visited few houses of the village to check on the general hygiene in houses including the kitchen, rooms and utensils. During the inspection, they discovered a large number of mosquito larvae part from poor cleanliness.
