Bangladesh opener reveals he cut short his T20 Blast stint with Essex due to personal reasons

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has refuted claims that his wife was the subject of an attempted ‘acid attack’ in UK.

The left-hander cut short his stint for Essex in the T20 Blast after just one game and returned to his native country.

Number of publications reported on Tuesday that Tamim’s wife escaped an attempted ‘acid attack’ on Monday, when the family was dinning out.

However, the 28-year-old took to Twitter to explained that he shortens his stay in the UK due to personal reason.

Essex in an statement released on official website, confirmed Tamim’s departure.

“Essex County Cricket Club can confirm that overseas player, Tamim Iqbal, has left the Club with immediate effect due to personal reasons. We wish him all the best and it would be appreciated if Tamim’s privacy is respected during this time.”

Tamim has already scored 18 centuries for his country, and was expected to make big contribution for Essex in the ongoing camping.
