JIT’s excessive coverage

Letter July 12, 2017
Ceaseless coverage of JIT reports is excessive, bothersome and aggravating

KARACHI: I truly feel as though Joint Investigation Team (JIT) coverage of the Panama case has become excessive, bothersome and aggravating. Not only is the public forced to be at the receiving end of this unfolding saga, but constant bland reports have made us desensitised to a rather grave issue. Upon learning of the Panama Papers, other world leaders concerned for the preservation of their dignity like David Cameron, former prime minister of the UK, resigned immediately. The extension of this issue seems to be the government of Pakistan’s chosen strategy to bide time, all the way to elections of 2018.
