Snow leopards: Research to ascertain threats
PESHAWAR:
The Wildlife Department of Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa and Snow Leopard Foundation, an international NGO, have jointly initiated advanced research to ascertain threats to the leopard population. Galliyat is home to the largest population of common leopards in the country and reduction of habitat is a threat to survival of the species in the region. Presently Ayubia National Park in Abbotabad district is the only sanctuary for leopards. During the joint research, data about population of the leopard would also be established.
