“We are fighting against corruption. We are not doing politics; rather we are waging a Jihad against the godfather of a mafia,” Imran said while addressing a press conference at Nathia Gali.
Talking with reference to recent statements from the ruling party leaders and members of the Sharif family against the Panamagate joint investigation team (JIT), Imran said the ruling PML-N had planned to make the JIT controversial by slandering it.
“However, if the PML-N attacked the Supreme Court this time, as it did in the past, I will call the people to come out on streets,” he said, adding, “I see PM Nawaz Sharif in Adiyala jail now.”
Speaking in connection with Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s defamation suit against him, Imran once again alleged that Shehbaz offered him Rs10 billion just to stay mum on Panamgate issue.
“He offered me Rs10 billion as bribe. Let him take the matter to the court where I will disclose his real face,” he said, adding that Shehbaz was engaged in extra-judicial killings.
The PTI chief also poked fun at the ruling party’s inability to convince the Qatari prince to come to Pakistan to get his statement recorded before the JIT. “The Qatari prince comes for hunting birds but does not come to save them,” he added.
He said no one could think that a JIT would question the Sharif family a day. “The much-awaited day is coming and it should be a great match,” he said.
Criticising PM’s daughter Mariam Nawaz, who recently appeared before the probe panel, Imran said she had not appeared before the JIT for asking questions but to answer their questions. He claimed that selfish people wanted to save the system and a media group was trying to save the Sharif family.
