KARACHI: Pakistan's Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his men's doubles partner Florin Merges began their campaign at Wimbledon with a 3-1 win against Dino Marcan and Tristan-Samuel Weissborn.

The duo lost the opening set to 6-4 but battled hard in the second, prevailing 7-6 (7-4) to level the match.

The third set was no different as the pairing of Marcan and Weissborn provided tough resistance and forcing another tie-break, but like the second set, Aisam and Mergea triumphed this time as well, winning 7-6 (7-3).

The fourth set proved much easier as Aisam, Merges won 6-3 to cruise into the second round where they will face Australian duo Julian Knowle and Philipp Oswald.

Before Wimbledon, Aisam had also won the Antalya Open, with Robert Lindstedt by his side.
