KURRAM AGENCY: A woman, as well as her three-year-old daughter, suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries after her brother-in-law threw acid on them in a village in Central Kurram.

The victim has been identified as Nadia Gul, a widow living with her in-laws in the remote Daya village.

The woman and her daughter had been shifted out of the agency in a critical condition, according to an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Victim’s brother, Karim Gul, told The Express Tribune, “My sister was intoxicated first, and later in the night her brother-in-law threw corrosive liquid on her that also injured her three-year-old daughter.”

Gul said that the in-laws of her sister were so influential that the political administration had refused to register a criminal case them. “I, too, have received murder threats, and warned against registering a case against them,” he said.

Gul requested the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor and Peshawar corps commander to help him get justice.

The political administration, confirming the incident, said an investigation had been launched.
