Swedish woman arrested from Dera Ghazi Khan

Police official claims the woman had married Ghulam Shabbir in Saudi Arabia and later the couple shifted to Pakistan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A Swedish woman was arrested along with her three children from Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday.

Pakistan stops visa on arrival for foreigners 

An official of Civil Lines police station told The Express Tribune, “We received a tip off that a foreign national is residing in a house near Manka Canal, Fareedabad Colony.We immediately raided the spot and arrested the woman and her three children.”

The official maintained the woman was taken into custody as the interior ministry had issued instructions that foreigners could not enter, stay or reside in the district without getting an NOC from the authorities concerned.

Over 3,500 foreign nationals married to Pakistanis in a bind 

He pointed out the woman, whose identity could not be revealed due to security reasons, had married Ghulam Shabbir in Saudi Arabia and
later the couple shifted to Pakistan. He said the woman was living with her husband and children for the last eight months in Dera Ghazi Khan. He said they were shifted to the police station while further investigation was underway.
