Upkeep of capital’s parks being neglected

Parks in Shakarparian, F-9 Park, Lake View Park, Rawal Dam Park, and Marghazar Zoo present a picture of neglect

ISLAMABAD: As rains turned the weather in the capital pleasant, residents have been flocking to parks and recreational spots in the city.  However, owing to the lethargic and apathetic attitude of the authorities concerned, parks in the city such as in Shakarparian, F-9 Park, Lake View Park, Rawal Dam Park, and Marghazar Zoo present a picture of neglect and lack of maintenance. Residents of Sector G-7 complained that most of the parks in the sector have lost their attraction and charm due to the apathy of the civic agency. They added that the hockey ground in Sector G-7 Markaz and the children’s park adjacent to it present a deserted look. Visitors at Shakarparian lament the state in which the scenic spot was. They complained of a shortage of clean drinking water and damaged floodlights – which discouraged visitors from visiting the park with their families, especially at night.
