Indian father names baby 'GST' after tax reform launch

A baby born at the same time as the launch of India's new tax regime - Goods and Services Tax (GST) - on the midnight of June 30 has been named GST, Indian Express reported.
The baby was born in a village in Bihar which is popular for giving newborns odd names that are trending, ranging from "Court" to "Coffee". However, this trend took a new turn when the newborn baby was named GST to mark the launch of the new tax reform which is labelled as "India's biggest single tax reform to date".
As soon as the news of "Baby GST' was shared in the online space, members of the BJP government were quick to send their wishes to the newborn. Party spokesperson Nalin S Kohli shared a picture of the mother with the child taking a selfie. “This is an empowering #GST & #SabkaSathSabkaVikas image on #BadaltaBharat under @narendramodi ji @BJP4India, from Rajasthan @VasundharaBJP”, he tweeted.
Even Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje picked up the tweet and added her wishes. “Live long & healthy Baby GST!” Raje tweeted.
The baby's father Jasraj, a resident of Mahalaxmi street in Pali town of Rajasthan, decided to the name his daughter GST after the launch of the tax reform on June 30. The family will call the baby with her nickname GST and she will have a proper name once she will be admitted to school, the report added.
