Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s films that have released on Eid have always been unbeatable, enjoying bumper openings at the Box Office. Considering this, it’s really no wonder how the superstar considers Eid to be a lucky charm for his career.

However, this time, things have turned out quite differently. Salman’s recently released film Tubelight has received mixed reviews from the audience, as well as from the critics.

In fact, the Kabir Khan directorial also had a below than expectations opening at the Box Office on day one. It’s been almost five days since its release and Tubelight is still struggling to touch the INR100 crore mark, when one was expecting the film to break Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s record, reported Business of Cinema.

According to the trade buzz, the single screens showing the film have suffered huge losses due to the less-than-favourable response. According to reports, two cinemas in Ferozabad and in Uttar Pradesh (UP) that ran Tubelight have suffered a loss close to INR1 million.

Reportedly, another cinema in UP has lost all the money that they had earned during Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Dangal. The buzz also suggests that many distributors are in tears and have reached Mumbai in hope of meeting Salman and requesting him for a refund.

It remains to be seen how Salman reacts to this, because he is apparently not bound by any contract to refund the money to distributors. It would be a very special gesture by the actor if he agrees to compensate.

Directed and written by Kabir Khan, Tubelight is based on 1962 Sino-Indian War and sees Salman playing an innocent boy. It also features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, Salman’s brother Sohail and the late Om Puri, among others. The film released on June 23.

Etna Cincinati | 7 years ago | Reply What was more painful to watch than dumb Salman himself... Was his humongous beefy brother with that funny round nose. Both were total misfits for the characters they portrayed. No story either. Overall a terrible movie.
