Murder convict sentenced to death in Sargodha

Accused Wajid, Tehzeeb and Ismail had gunned down a woman Kaneez Bibi over a family dispute in 2014

SARGODHA: A court awarded death sentence to a murder convict for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha on Friday.

The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahzad Raza.

The prosecution told the court that accused Wajid, Tehzeeb and Ismail had gunned down a woman Kaneez Bibi over a family dispute in 2014.

The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court. After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Wajid along with a fine of Rs0.2 million as compensation money.

However, the court acquitted Ismail due to lack of evidence and declared Tehzeeb as proclaimed offender.

Earlier, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Abubakkar Saddique awarded 25 years imprisonment to two murder convicts in a murder case within Cantonment police station. Convicts Iftikhar and Yar Maseeh gunned down a citizen Sher Ali over enmity in 2012.
