Unattractive Area Allowance: Provincial employees demand increase

Federal government employees serving in Chitral, Dir and Kohistan districts are demanding an enhancement in UAA.

CHITRAL: Federal government employees serving in Chitral, Dir and Kohistan districts are demanding an enhancement in Unattractive Area Allowance (UAA). A federal government servant on the condition of anonymity disclosed on Wednesday that employees serving in such areas earn very meager Basic Pay, and that according to a provincial government notification, the UAA ceiling was to be increased for provincial government employees serving at Chitral by 40 per cent for male and 50 per cent for female employees. Provincial government employees in Chitral serving in BPS-1 to 15 are getting Rs1,700 per month, employees serving in BPS-16 are getting Rs3,000 and BPS-17 and above get Rs4,500 per month as UAA allowance in Chitral District.
