LAHORE: At least 93 prisoners, involved in petty crimes, have been released from city jails to celebrate Eid with their beloved ones.

District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi visited the district and central jails and ordered release of 93 prisoners so that they could celebrate Eid with their families.

The prisoners lauded the decision and pledged that they would not become part of any criminal activity in the future.

The judge also examined hospitals, kitchen and barracks and directed the jail authorities to provide better health facilities to the prisoners.

On the occasion, the prisoners complained about the lack of proper food and health facilities. Meanwhile, the judge also examined food being served to the prisoners. He also distributed gifts among the prisoners.

On Eidul Fitr, Qureshi would spend time with patients at the prison, who are admitted at Fountain House.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, the district & sessions judge said, “I heard the complaints of the prisoners and resolved them on the spot.” He added, “Those, who were freed, could now spend Eid with their families.”
